Great to hear about the progress of the project. We’ve discussed our detailed requirements and it is likely we’ll have a solution to test soon. We’re gathering potential testers, so make a Data Management Plan with DMP Online, or deposit data in the Lincoln Repository, and we’ll automatically include you.
We attended the Digital Curation Centre’s event in Edinburgh; a great opportunity to contribute to future developments in Research data management, particularly interoperable Data Management Plans.
I was pleased to be invited to take part in a workshop working towards a report for a Research Data Alliance interest group on a potential Journal Research Data Policy Registry. We worked through some practical exercises, discussed the issues involved in navigating the landscape, and also steps which might be possible towards a coherent set of policies between publishers, funders and institutions. David Kernohan facilitated the event and he’s blogged about it here.
It’s always good to see how other institutions are approaching our common challenges. The first University Alliance Open Data Forum was a great opportunity to compare ourselves with people at similar stages in their development of Research Data Management systems. While Lincoln has been trying to build engagement through data management planning and advocacy, the alternative “build it and they will come”, infrastructure-led strategy seems to be also popular. The two camps had a lively discussion.
